A 2013 barcoding study found outright substitution in about a third of herbal products — the labelled plant absent entirely. The method has real limits, and the finding still held up.
This star is on the map because the show intends to take the question apart properly — the trials, how it is actually tested, whether the thing sold is the thing studied.
