Female dog whelks near marinas grew penises, at water concentrations in nanograms per litre. One of the first unambiguous proofs that a synthetic chemical could disrupt an endocrine system.
This star is on the map because the show intends to take the question apart properly — the trials, how it is actually tested, whether the thing sold is the thing studied.
