Gene variants are assigned at conception, not by lifestyle, so they cannot be confounded by who chooses to drink. Run on alcohol, they find harm at every level for blood pressure and stroke.
This star is on the map because the show intends to take the question apart properly — the trials, how it is actually tested, whether the thing sold is the thing studied.
